Revolution of the NFL??...[this isnt ur Grandpa's NFL]

"With the 44th pick in the NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select Pat White."

WHAT?!?! Are the Dolphins seriously trying to run the Wildcat in the NFL? From the looks of things [YES]! When they drafted him, that is what everybody assumed because that what the Dolphins ran all last year with Ronnie Brown. It would be the perfect situation because defenses would not only have to prepare for the usual offensive scheme, but now they have to prepare for the option. What makes this different is that now the "quarterback" is effective at throwing the ball. The NFL has always been kind of skeptical when it comes to running college offenses, but Bill Parcells does not mind because he is trying to win. Win is what he shall do with Pat White who is a threat to run and pass on any down. We shall also mention White was a combined 42-9 is four years at West Virginia. So we shall see how this works out for the Dolphins against the competitive Patriots, I mean AFC East.

This may even open up the door for other QBs like Tim Tebow and maybe....just maybe even Michael Vick to run the spread if it is successful.

NBA Playoffs Update

Dwight Howard had a great Game 5 recorded 24 points and 24 rebounds. The Magic better be glad they won because it looks like they will be heading to a Game 7 if Howard  gets suspended for his actions. Check the vid below.

Also, you Duke fans we shall see how your boy [J.J. Redick] does in his first spotlight game. He may
get the start since Courtney Lee [who Howard hurt] will be out for Game 6. And if Howard gets suspended
that will be big load for Hedo Turkoglu to carry. It will be interesting to see what the NBA does.

[Update: NBA has suspended Dwight Howard for Game 6]

NFL Draft [Leftovers]

Every draft you have those undrafted players who leaves you scratching your head on why they did not get picked. Nevertheless, they still get signed to a UFA deal and I wish the best for these players. Here is a list of some notable ones. Who knows, in this list maybe the next Kurt Warner, Willie Parker, Wes Welker, or James Harrison.

Darry Beckwith [LB] - LSU
Aaron Kelly [WR] - Clemson
John Parker Wilson [QB] - 'Bama
Quan Cosby [WR] - Texas
Graham Harrell [QB] - TTech
Dominique Johnson [DB] - Jackson State
Tyrell Sutton [RB] - N'Western
Adrian Foster [RB] - Tennessee
Nate Longshore [QB] - Cal
Ian Johnson [RB] - Boise State
Emmanuel Cook [DB] - South Carolina
Alex Boone [OL] - Ohio State
Kory Sheets [RB] - Purdue
Chase Daniel [QB] - Mizzou
Cullen Harper [QB] - Clemson
Brandon Simmons [RB] - ECU
Tremaine Goddard [DB] - UNC

Special good luck to the boys from the Pioneer Football Leauge [David Hyland, Joe Matthews]

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I am a little [skill-player] bias. Ha, sorry linemen.

NFL Draft Review Pt.2

The second topic that is not a big buzz but should be is the Broncos pick. With the #12 pick, they drafted Georgia star back Knowshon Moreno. This guy is has the possibility to be the next Terrell Davis and win a MVP [Super Bowl & NFL]. You ask why is that a bad thing...? See the thing with the Broncos is they had other position needs that should have been addressed. Needs meaning their defense up front who has struggled to get the job done. They could have drafted Brian Orakpo ['Skins] and Brian Cushing [Texans], who would have greatly improved that problem. Since they did not go that route, I am fine with the Moreno pick but why would you pick up TWO running backs off the Free Agent market [JJ Arrington and Cory Buckhalter]? I mean if you are going to draft a back that is fine but don't sign two others.  Considering the Broncos usually always have a productive back because of the blocking scheme, Moreno should have a great career there but it would be better if the Broncos had not given up their future QB. That's another story, another day [LoL]. Good Luck to Knowshon, I hope he has a great future.

NFL Draft Review Pt.1

VS.

The first topic and maybe the hottest of the draft is pick #7 in which the Raiders
[who have only won 24 games since 'o3], drafted Darruis Heyward-Bey from
Maryland over Michael [Mr. Biletnikoff Award] Crabtree. First off this is not bashing
Heyward-Bey by no means. He was one of my favorite wideouts in the ACC because he
was so fast. The problem with the pick is, why would you pick the 3rd best receiver over
the number 1 who has produced the past two seasons. I mean, I know Crabtree doesn't blaze
by anybody, but he has a nose for the end-zone and is a playmaker. Even though I am not a numbers guy this is jaw-dropping.

"Heyward-Bey caught just 13 touchdown passes in three seasons at Maryland, never reaching 800 yards receiving in a season. He had career lows last season with 42 catches for 609 yards to go with his five TD catches. While Crabtree caught 97 passes for 1,165 yards and 19 touchdowns last season at Texas Tech."

Things like that sells tickets and help u win more than 24 games in six years [less than the Lions (26)!?!]. Who knows though, this maybe the smartest pick in a few years if Crabtree is indeed a "system" receiver. The odds are not too high that it would happened. The point is the Raiders could have gotten him a little later and instead they gave the 49ers a possible Jerry Rice Hall of Famer. Good luck to both receivers though, especially to Mr. Crabtree who does not have a starting QB yet. And I hope Heyward-Bey has a great career in Oakland and is not a bust.
