Suns were double-crossed by Golden State coach Don Nelson. Phoenix thought it had agreed to a deal in which the Warriors would draft Stephen Curry and ship him to Phoenix as part of the package for Stoudemire. Stoudemire can opt out of his contract after the 2009-2010 season. If the Suns aren’t willing to give him a contract extension, they better to trade him now. His agent said the Suns are going to have to really make a commitment to him. Their decisions seemingly are still up in the air but they are going to have to be made at some point. You'll have to talk about either committing to him or trading him. I agree they have to trade or resign him. The commitment Stoudemire is seeking from the Suns is more than just being told he won't be traded. He wants a contract extension when he is eligible later this summer. Stoudemire commented this month to media in other cities about how well he would fit in with other teams if he was a 2010 free agent. That's what he better shoot for because looks like Steve Kerr is staying put.
