Tonight I checked out the two-hour documentary called "The U". It should catch the eye of many football fans especially those that appreciate Miami. Director Billy Corben takes an in-depth look at the Hurricanes' teams during the 1980s and early 90s. It begins with the rise under coach Howard Schnellenberger, continues with the flamboyant Jimmy Johnson teams and ends with the Dennis Erickson era. The film portrays the good: the national titles. It also focuses on the bad: the brash and off-the-field problems. I won't spill too many beans about it but it is a must see. The next time it comes on is Sunday at 11 p.m. on ESPN2. You definitely need to DVR TiVO or what ever it is you want to call it.
