TigerText

The application which just launched for Iphones (don’t worry Team Blackberry it will be available for you at the end of March) erases all read text messages. It was created by a company called X Sigma and here is what its founder Jeffrey Evans had to say about how it works:

“I understand part of the reason people want to talk about it today is because of the name but this is not about people trying to cheat,” Evans said of the TigerText launch. “If you send a private text message it should stay private.”

Tigertext.com for the iPhone is a text message trail-covering application and versions are to be available by the end of March for BlackBerry smartphones as well as those running on Android software. “Tigers are notoriously difficult animals to track”. People receiving the messages are prompted to download the TigerText application for free in order to read the text, which is not actually sent to the recipient’s iPhone. Instead, the message is hosted on the company’s servers where it can be erased whenever the sender wishes. Sent messages can be deleted on demand or be set to automatically vanish after a specified period. A “delete on read” feature starts a 60 second countdown when a text message is opened and then erases it at zero. TigerText messages cannot be saved, copied or forwarded by recipients. “Ninety-nine percent of what people want to keep private has nothing to do with cheating on a spouse or doing anything illegal,” Evans said.

Only if Tiger could have had this app I am sure he would not have gotten caught. Then again there would be no need for it. So I just want to say thanks Tiger because when I get my iPhone I won't end up like you.

Press Conference

Tiger Woods will end nearly three months of silence Friday when he speaks publicly for the first time since his middle-of-the-night car accident sparked stunning revelations of infidelity. However, his agent said Woods will not take any questions from a small group of media. “This is not a press conference,” Mark Steinberg said Wednesday. Glad to hear that he is finally having a press conference though. I cannot wait to hear what he will be speaking about. Woods is to speak at 11 a.m. Friday from the clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., home of the PGA Tour. I hope it is to say that he is coming back to the game sooner than people are expecting him to be. Steinberg said in a telephone interview that Woods had taken some recovery steps and quoted the agent as saying, “Tiger feels as though it’s time to make amends and to publicly do that.” Woods to “discuss his past and his future”.

TMZSports?

According to Sports by Brooks, TMZ Sports sounds more like a sports gossip site than anything else. So why is Levin is starting TMZSports.com? If you have to ask that question, this must be your first visit to SbB. Look at ESPN. With the majority of our only truly national sports network’s revenue derived from contractual agreements to broadcast NFL, MLB, NBA and NCAA hoops and football games, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that ESPN’s news reporting operation could be compromised by those financial arrangements. Add in the fact that ESPN has no major national sports media competitor and now tell me what incentive ESPN has to report negative news about anything involving those league partners? Say a sports blog breaks an original story that portrays one of ESPN’s league partners in an unflattering light. Because ESPN doesn’t have to fear another national network competitor widely distributing that blog’s story – because no such competitor exists – why would ESPN acknowledge the story? That’s where TMZSports.com will come in. Harvey Levin doesn’t have to worry about a college football broadcast contract worth hundreds of millions when investigating Charlie Weis‘ on-the-record claim that Pete Carroll was living with a grad student in Malibu. Levin doesn’t have to worry about getting press credentials to future USC games, or getting access to Carroll for interviews. Most importantly, Levin has the desire and the ability to distribute what he finds out about Carroll’s living arrangement to a large enough audience that the story will break through into the mainstream. Something independent sports blogs with huge scoops are largely incapable of. TMZ Sports will be online and ready to go within the next few months. Warner Brothers has registered TMZSports.com as the domain for the new TMZ Sports site. This will be very interesting

Tiger Woods in Accident

Tiger Woods was injured at approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning when he hit a fire hydrant and continued into a tree outside of his Isleworth home. The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed Woods was injured in the crash and was taken to hospital. Woods has apparently been treated for facial lacerations.Woods was driving a 2009 Escalade at the time of the incident. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the airbags in Woods' SUV failed to deploy on impact, which would indicate his vehicle was traveling at low speed. The accident comes just days after tabloid magazines speculated that Woods was involved in a marital affair.

Forbes

Forbes unveiled its list of the world’s highest-paid athletes in 2009. This of course is when you combine salary and endorsements together. The #1 athlete is Tiger Woods. He is banking 110 million. And even that's with the knee problems. Then in second you had Kobe and Michael Jordan . Lebron came in 6th [tied with Manny Pacquaio & Phil Mickelson] but he was ahead of Kevin Garnett. I did not know Kobe was banking up there with MJ. Wow!

Oh yeah, Kobe [4] Rings shirt is now on sale because it was so popular when Kobe was wearing it.
