All-Decade Offense Team

Since the decade is coming to a close and everybody is making their own decade team I decided to make one. Here's my all-decade team (skilled offense):

QB:

  1. Vince Young (Threw for over 6,000 yards and 44 touchdowns and also ran for over 3,100 and 37 touchdowns)
  2. Ken Dorsey (Second-leading passer of all-time with 9,565 yards with 86 touchdown passes. led the Hurricanes through one of the most dominant stretches)
  3. Tim Tebow (Tebow has accounted for 8,800 yards passing, 2,900 yards rushing, 141 touchdowns, 34 wins as a starter)

RB:

  1. Reggie Bush (Bush registered an almost unbelievable 8.7 yards per carry and 222 all-purpose yards per game)
  2. Adrian Peterson (Peterson missed11 games over his last two seasons but still ran over 4,000 yards and 41 touchdowns in just three years)
  3. Darren McFadden (Heisman runner-up amassed 4,590 rushing yards in three seasons and 41 touchdowns)

WR:

  1. Larry Fitzgerald (2nd Heisman voting for a 92-catch, 22-touchdown season as just a sophomore)
  2. Michael Crabtree (134-catch, 1,962-yard, 22-touchdown effort that smashed every freshman record in 2007)
  3. Calvin Johnson (Finished with nearly 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns in three years imagine if he had a QB)
  4. Andre Johnson (Finished at UMiami career catching 92 passes for 1,831 yards (19.9 avg.) and 20 touchdowns)
TE:

  1. Kellen Winslow (Winslow set Miami records for a tight end with 57 receptions for 726 yards)

Thats 5 Straight!

Young’s miracle-working was even more amazing as it came on the game’s final play, the ball being snapped with six seconds left, and Young scrambling toward the line of scrimmage before letting the pass go with Britt making a leaping catch to give Tennessee its fifth consecutive win. Young lead an 18-play, 99-yard drive in the final 2:37 to rally the Tennessee Titans. Young was sensational, completing 27 of 43 passes for a career-high 387 yards, collecting 94 of those on the final drive, as he hit on 10 of 16 passes and converted on fourth down three times in the drive. His Rose Bowl heroics were from nearly four years ago were on more than a few people’s minds. “It was funny, because it was second or third down, down on the goal line and [Steve] Breaston came up to me and he was like, ‘God, this is déjà vu all over again. He did that to Michigan, and he did that to myself in the title game,” said Leinart, who played well in completing 21 of 31 for 220 yards. What was most impressive is Chris Johnson, amazingly enough, did not have one touch on the final drive. His presence had already been made though, arguably the best running back in the NFL, sprinted 85 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter of Sunday's game. Johnson ran for 154 yards on 18 carries.

Kobe Being a Mentor

The story of Young’s rebirth as an N.F.L. quarterback should be credited to Kobe Bryant. The Lakers star he met in passing at the N.B.A. All-Star Game three years ago. Bryant never doubted Young’s drive, not after reading his text messages. “He has a passion to be great and a willingness to improve,” Bryant said last week in a telephone interview. “He just wants to get better.” Bryant’s mentoring has meant more to Young since July, when Steve McNair was murdered. Young revered McNair and referred to him as Pops. When Bryant heard that Young was going to start on Nov. 1 against Jacksonville, he sent a text message: “Let’s go. It’s showtime!” With Young as a starter, the Titans have averaged 31 points and won four in a row. They can improve to 5-6 with a victory on Sunday against Arizona.

Change Needed in Tennessee

Fisher isn’t making that same commitment coming off the bye weekend and heading into Sunday’s game against the Jaguars at LP Field. It doesn’t mean he’s changing quarterbacks, but he’s changing his approach. “We’ve had a week to do some different things and considering the circumstances we’re in right now with the record, there’s things that you need to do differently,’’ Fisher said on Monday. “Let’s just say I am not going to be as specific and open-ended from a competitive standpoint.’’ Fisher made it clear, however, he remains confident in Collins, who has completed 54.8 percent of his passes while throwing five touchdowns and eight interceptions. Titans owner Bud Adams told The Tennessean last week he’d like to see Young play. The team’s first round draft pick in 2006 hasn’t started since Sept. 9, 2008 against the Jaguars.

Still #2 QB

Vince Young will remain the Titans’ No. 2 quarterback behind starter Kerry Collins and ahead of Patrick Ramsey, according to Coach Jeff Fisher on Sunday. “He’s always been our No. 2 quarterback, and he’ll remain that,” Fisher said. “He’s done a nice job most of the time on the fields, and most of the time on Sundays or in the games and on the practice field. The stuff that we asked him to do in the ballgame, I thought he did a good job with.” Ramsey, who did not play Saturday night because of sore ribs, Fisher said he is an NFL-caliber quarterback, one the Titans would like to keep on their 53-man roster. “Pat’s done some real good things in ballgames and on the practice field as well,” Fisher said. “We’re fortunate we’ve got three real good quarterbacks. I think Pat can play in this league.” Young’s improved play this preseason can, perhaps in part at least, be traced to the fact that he spent the entire off-season with the team, rather than bouncing back and forth between Nashville and taking classes in Austin, Texas like last year.
