Scout.com Top Basketball Prospect '23

Here it is ladies and gentlemen. The early #1 prospect has been discovered. His school? He does not quite have one yet. His name? Lebron James. Oh yeah I forgot the Jr. But yes it is true, Lebron is training his son right now. We have the evidence to prove it. Let the recruiting begin [Get him Roy Williams] ha. But seriously come to UNC [ L o L ].

The Greatest Series...NOT

Na, the series was a great one...1-6 that is. Game 7 was a wrap from the start. I don't know if the young Bulls ran out of gas or couldn't pull another miracle, but there was no drama last night in the game. If you fight this hard to make it to a Game 7 you should do everything to play to the buzzer.  Na but honestly, they played decent they just could not get "that shot" to fall for them. They were in reach late in the game but the ball would not fall. If they could have forced overtime, they would had a better shot at winning. Ben [Jordan] Gordon [free agent this summer] played a heck of a game scoring 33. They just could not over 8 TOs and missed FTs down the stretch. You have to give props to the Bulls for playing hard. If they make good additions [instead of subtractions] they will be in the top 5 next year. Well now lets see how much the C's have left as they turn around and match up with the Magic in round two. Should be some interesting match ups.

Note to teams: Do not play Boston in 7 games in which they have home-court advantage [17-3 since '57]

Update- Yes, we were correct. The Hawks did destroy the Heat [91-78].

Pac Man Dominates

Pacquiao vs. Hatton

Wow! Unbelievable match! I was not expecting this to be over so soon. I was surprised by Pac Man's dominance from start to finish. Was it worth watching? Yes, but it was over so fast [I'm sure Hitman is saying the same LoL]. I hate to sound like a cliche, but it is true what they say, speed DOES kill. Hatton learned that the hard way as he was knocked out twice in the first round. Hatton would be KO'd in the second round [at 2:59]. He is now probably considered the best pound for pound boxer. I figured Pac Man would win but not in this fashion. Now Hitman has two losses under his belt. The other one coming from Floyd Mayweather [who had to do it in 10]. So now everybody else [me included] is wondering how long until Mayweather vs. Pacquiao?

In case you missed it, here's the vid below [don't blink, you might miss the KO!].

Manny Pacquiao Vs Ricky Hatton

Tonight is a great night if your a sports fan. You have game 7 of the [maybe greatest series] Bulls vs Celtics. Also tonight the boxing match between "Pac Man" and "Hitman". This should be a very very good boxing match. It is for the Jr. welterweight [140 lb] championship which is held by Hatton. Hatton comes in with only one loss [Mayweather Jr]. Pacquiao is coming off a huge win in 2008 against De La Hoya and if he wins tonight, he will tie De La Hoya as the only man to win in 6 different weight classes. Their styles differ in that, Pac Man is faster and quicker, while Hitman is stronger and powerful. What may help Hatton is that he has been training with Floyd Mayweather father [Sr.]. Even though Hatton has a lot of things going for him, he is the underdog. It will be interesting to see how Pac Man responds to being the favorite for a change. Here is a trailer below for tonight's boxing match if you still are lost about these two men.

Can't wait for tonight sporting events!

[ps....Mayweather plans to return to ring in July]

Crosby vs Ovechkin

I am usually not big on hockey, but this matchup right here is something I may have actually sit down and watch. This is being compared to Magic and Bird type series [although these two play diff. positions]. You have to of the best hockey stars going at it. They both have contrasting styles but are great at what they do. The regular season head to head was quite a show. This season, the Capitols have won the series but the Penguins won the last game on a shootout. They have a certain respect for each other off the ice, but during the game is another story. The first game is today @ 1 on NBC. This is the first time they have met in the post-season. I am hoping that this goes into 7 games, kind of like the Bulls|Celtics series. Overtime that causes shootouts between the two will cause more drama. Lets just hope that this series lives up to it's hype.

Big Ten...wants 12?

Joe Pa is wanting to add a team to the Big Ten for bowl purposes. He feels that when the regular season is over for them, other teams are still playing so they never have like a down period. The Big Ten does not play football for six weeks, which is a definitely long time. If Ohio State wants to use that crutch as the reason for getting blown out, I say we let them until they get that 12 team so it can be fair [& watch them still gets blow out by the SEC]. The team he is wanting to add is from the Big East. I do not see that happening in the next lets say five years, but Joe Pa can pretty much get his way so it may happened. Not only will it change the landscape for football, but basketball also. Taking a Big East team and putting them in the Big Ten, it would probably be like going down to play with your JV team. Ah but I agree, I think all BCS schools should have a conference championship game.

Playoffs

The Heat and Hawks series has been nothing spectacular [besides D'Wade] unlike the Bulls|Celtics series. The games are never close except when the score is 0-0. Game 6 was no different that 1-5, the winner won the game easily by double digits. Wade went for 41|5|2 [MVP credentials] of course. I expected this from him with it being the last game at home and it was a win or go home situation. Game 7 should be some what of a battle [hopefully]. It really would be good for ratings to see the two MVP candidates to go at it in the second round, but I do not know if D-Wade can pull his team through the hole. I am going for the Heat but I see the Hawks pulling this one out by less than double digits.

To briefly talk about the other series that went into 7 games. For all you "faithful" Celtics fan, do not be looking for Kevin Garnett to play. First off,  Ainge said he was not going to play any of the playoffs. Second off, why would he play in this game? People talking about KG pulling a Willis Reed. Yes Reed did play when he was injured but that was the NBA Finals game 7. If this was for the 'ship, I could see but this is just for the getting to the second round!! I do not think he would risk his career over this.

Early Summer Updates

Well the mini camps have started now so that means which NFL big name player will be skipping these days. In Carolina, the big name is Julius Peppers. Although, it is not that big of a deal because he does not have to be there. He has to report to the mandatory training camp in July though.

In New England, the training for the Rodney Harrison's replacement has started. Patrick Chung [2nd rd] is eager to learn from Harrison, whose hard hitting style is similar to his. Patriots staff are always on top of things. Sometime people question the things that they do, but it seems to always work out.

I have been hearing lately a few rumors about Brett Favre. I really hope we don't start that again this summer. Reportedly he has hired a trainer...?? Ok, maybe he just wants to stay in shape. Now people have come up with the scenerio that he will be joining the Vikings and that is the reason that they did not pursue a QB. That's just bogus, I think they believe in Sage Rosenfels [.....].

You want your star linebacker to bounce back from an injury? Just get people to critize his play ability. Thats the case for the Charger's Shawne Merriman whose "footballhood" has been questioned. He is now ready to start the season and give everybody all that he has. Mr. Lights Out, I hope you bring it because your team's window for winning the Super Bowl with this group is almost closed.

One of the Greatest

If you have missed any of the Bulls vs. Celtics matchup, you must have been living under a rock. This series has got so much attention because of how great the series has been. You would think this was for the Eastern Conf championship. I wonder will either team have anything in the tank after all this overtimes. In case you missed tonite's overtime thriller, I was nice enough to bring you the highlights [courtesy of NBA].

On the other side of the coast, the Rockets [led by McGrady Artest] beat the Rockets to advance to the second round
to play the LA Lakers. Wow should be a great series McGrady vs. Bryant. Dream matchup. Maybe it will go to sever
games ha! Na, I don't think so Lakers in 5.

Bean Head lookin to Impress and Win

Chris "Beanie" Wells looks to replace the Edge in 'Zona. Beanie will be looked upon to give them that consistent running game that they were missing last season. Now that they have him, Kurt, Fitz, and Boldin [for now], their offense is very well dangerous. They all will help each other out. The run game will complement Boldin & Fitz, and it will allow the playaction to become effective for Warner. IF Boldin can stay quiet [like he has been] and still productive, I do not see any reason why they cannot repeat as NFC Champs. I know other teams have upgraded to such as Eagles [Maclin, McCoy], Bears [If Cutler gets help], and 3/4 of the NFC South [sorry Bucs], but this repeat is theirs to lose. The Giants I believe will be the favorite to upset them though [just a early prediction; jump on the bandwagon if not the Cards].

So with the Edge being released, there is another veteran player on the FA market. I can see him going to a team that would need their main back a rest or a team that is playoff bound. Teams such as: Texans, Saints, and maybe even the 'Hawks.
