Do or Die

Coming up is Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Crosby and Co. better play GREAT if they do not want this series to be over. I am sure the Redwings will come out on top. Crosby said they will game game 6 because they have bounced back from games like game 5 all season. So we shall see if the Redwings will be celebrating another cup or we will be looking at a game 7.

Up 2-0

The Lakers came out did not play as flawless as in Game 1 but still came out with the W.  This win should be credited to Derek Fisher. He was the unsung hero because he made key plays during the stretch. Fisher had 12 points, 3 dimes, 3 steals, and a board. He made a big steal in overtime when JJ Reddick was trying to pass the ball but Fish stepped in and stole it. I am surprised the Lakers came out because honestly, Courtney Lee should have made that alley. If they lose this series [which they will] that will haunt him for a while. The Lakers played the game just like the Magic liked it: under 90 points, Kobe was not making shots, and the Lakers had players in foul trouble. Kobe did finish with 29 points and 8 dimes. I mean I do not know how the Magic will win because you cannot get any closer to winning a game than last night. The only thing I know is that the Magic are down 0-2.

Notes: Mad props to Hedo and Lewis [almost had a triple double], who bounced back from their horrific Game 1 shooting. Van Gundy did make a reference that his team has been down before 0-2 and came back to win the series. He is referring to the Heat who were down 0-2 to the Mavs and won 4 straight games. It is possible, but he does not have D-Wade on his team this time and he is playing against a hungry Kobe Bryant. Gasol had a nice game going for 24 and 10 and since the NBA went to the 2-3-2 format in 1985, 11 of 12 teams winning the first two games have gone on to win the championship.

Comeback Season

Chad Ochocinco called last season humbling, an embarrassment and a disappointment. This year he will make sure he is at the team’s mandatory minicamp. Chad wants to show everyone how hard and how dedicated he has been this offseason to get back to where he was a few years ago. He has been working so hard, he said it feels like he is trying to make it to the league again but he is working 10 times harder. Chad has been working out with his old junior college coach and even sparring [for speed] so he can regain that form. Man I cannot wait til see Chad put on a clinic every Sunday.

Reunited?

Allen Iverson may get a chance to redeem the end of his career. Coach Larry Brown said that he would be willing to take back Iverson. He said Iverson seems to be working really hard trying to prove people wrong about him and his career. Maybe out in Charlotte there may be something starting to look up for the Bobcats. Iverson's experience should help fill the spot at guard but it all depends on his attitude because he will not be the cornerstone of the team [which is what he has been struggling with lately]. Of course all of this is just rumors. I for one if this does go down will be attending some Bobcats game.

NBA Finals

I know many are probably wondering why I did not post about the Lakers-Magic. It has nothing to do with Lebron James not making it. It was the fact the score was 100-75. Three more games of Kobe [40,8,8] and you can call it a wrap! So the only thing I need to post is...

Congrats

Congrats to former ECU Pirate, Davon Drew, who signed his 3 year contract deal with the Ravens on yesterday.

S'Jax

Steven Jackson is trying to become a more effective running back. So he is working on becoming a better route runner and receiver. What might have caused the change was the the fact that his new offensive coordinator, was with the Eagles and Brian Westbrook [they have two different styles though]. He has not been limited to just catching the ball out of the back field, but they have also flanked him out wide. I doubt he will have Marshall Faulk|LaDainain Tomlinson-type season but there should be a increase in his catches.

Starter down=More reps

With star running back Brian Westbrook going down, this opens the door for the other backs to step up. Westbrook had surgery on his ankle to clean out somethings that he sprained last season. Booker is receiving most of the first team reps, as LeSean McCoy still tries to learn the offense. At times he seemed lost during practice as they went at 70% speed-wise. Since Westbrook will not be participating, he will be able to give McCoy a lot of advice [which will be much needed]. His biggest problem is still not picking up blitzes. He will really have to fix that in order to play. With Westbrook, McCoy's learning curve should go up and he should be ready to become the team's backup to Westbrook.

Note: Westbrook is not to miss any time because of the surgery.

Razorback?

The Cowboys have showed the world that they will be incorporating their "wildcat" system into their playbook also. This is quickly spreading in the NFL, but the Cowboys have came up with a name. They have decided to name their "wildcat" the "razorback". Of course it is a tribute to Felix Jones who help make the "wildcat" become famous during his Arkansas days. They have Patrick Crayton at the "QB" spot because of his former quarterbacking days. I do not think they will do too much of this, I believe it is just a different way to get the ball to Felix [since they want to increase his touches to 10-15]. I wonder what team will be next..??

Never too old

First off I would like to apologize for not being able to give you news on sports these past few days. We had a technical problem but it has been fixed and we are back to giving you [2's] two cents.

The fan above was not disappointed, as Randy Johnson got his 300th win. By doing so he becomes the 24th pitcher in history to do so. He allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run through 6 innings. So congrats to the Big Unit

Note: He is the second oldest pitcher to reach this milestone [Johnson is 45]
