Young & Foolish?

Well Derrick Rose was already under the radar for his "SAT" accusations but now there is more. A picture has been found of Rose throwing up a gang sign. It was supposedly been taken his freshman year at Memphis. The photo shows him seated and displaying the "pitchforks" sign of the Disciples Nation. Rose said he has never been and is not affiliated with any gangs. The Disciples is one of the main gangs that is in the area that Rose is from [Englewood]. He said he done it just playing around but he now realizes that it was a terrible joke. So lesson learned from this, if you have any inspirations of becoming a professional, watch the pictures that you take. Here is his public statement:

"Recently, a photo has been circulating on the Internet which appears to depict me flashing a gang sign.  This photo of me was taken at a party I attended in Memphis while I was in school there, and was meant as a joke…a bad one, I now admit.  I want to emphatically state, now and forever, that Derrick Rose is anti-gang, anti-drug, and anti-violence.  I am not, nor have I ever been, affiliated with any gang and I can’t speak loudly enough against gang violence, and the things that gangs represent.

In posing for this picture, I am guilty of being young, naive and of using extremely poor judgment.  I sincerely apologize to all my fans for my mistake.  I pride myself on being a good citizen, and role model, that young people can look up to and I want to urge all my young fans to stay away from gangs and gang-related activities." --Derrick Rose

Howdy Folks

Rex Grossman is going to try his luck in Texas as he signed a one year deal with the Houston Texans. Few teams expressed interest in him during free agency. Cincinnati and Buffalo were possible homes but both went for less-proven backups. This caused Grossman to change agents from Eugene Parker to Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus announced the pending agreement with the Texans on Thursday via Twitter. He has a chance to compete with former Lions QB Dan Orlovsky [the one known for classic stepping out of the endzone; a YouTube classic] for the backup job to starter Matt Schaub. There were rumors that he would try to play for the UFL but Rosenhaus quickly denied those rumors and said his agent will be playing in the NFL. I guess he was right this season.

Signed

The Jets's future has finally been sign. Mark Sanchez signed a 5 year deal worth $60 million with a $28 million guranteed signing bonus. It was surprising that he was signed this early because usually high picks take some time to be signed. Now that Sanchez has got this out the way he can fully concentrate on become the starter and the face of the Jets.

Almost Ready

Reggie Bush has been ahead of schedule and looks to make a return from his knee surgery. He should be back to 100% when camp starts next month. This past week, he has practiced at 3 of the 5 days of mini camp and looked good. He showed no signs of soreness as he was getting back into the rhythm of cutting again on that knee. He is looking to have a great [complete] season. Last season, he was having a great campaign until he was forced to miss the last 6 games.

Early Commitment

Joe Montana's son [Nick Montana] has verbally committed to the University of Washington. This upcoming fall he will be a senior so it was a weight off his shoulder so he can focus on playing good. He will be going to play for Steve Sarkisian who will be in his first season this fall. The thing that may have attracted him was how much success quarterbacks [Carson Palmer, Matt Leinhart, & Mark Sanchez]. Nick is a four star recruit who is listed as 6'3 185. He has the savy like has father but only time will tell if he can be as great.

Thats our Ace

Washington Nationals selected RHP Stephen Strasburg with the first overall pick in Tuesday's draft. They won't rush to sign him because they do not need him to pitch right away since he has already pitched so much this season. They will probably get him ready for next year when he can enter the starting rotation. He will be the Nats ace pitcher for the future with his fastball [clocked at 102] and great slider. He has been highly touted this year playing at San Diego State with a record of 13-1 and ERA of 1.32. He led the college ranks with 195 strikeouts in 109 innings of work.

Staying Alive

Instead of becoming one step closer of closing out the series, the Lakers became one step closer of giving the Magic life again. The Magic won 108-104 behind the Finals record setting 64% field goal percentage.  The biggest help they probably got was from Rafer Alston who came out focused and loose tonight. The past two games I think he was letting the whole Nelson situation get to him. Whatever Van Gundy said to him, it calmed him down and he score 20 points. I mean give the Magic TONS of credit. Rashad Lewis had 19, Turkoglu and Pietrus had 18, and Dwight Howard had 21 and 14 but the game was still not a blowout. The Lakers had a chance to win it down the strectch but Kobe's turnover [trying to do too much] and missed free throws is what cost them the game tonight. Lamar Odom did not help much tonight either. The Lakers missed a great chance to end the series tonight but could not do it. I expect Kobe to bounce back Thursday night and the Lakers to dominate. Kobe know that he is the reason why they lost so he will make sure they win game 4.

Forcing Game 7

I actually was surprised that the Penguins won to force a game 7. I thought the Red Wings would be to strong but I was mistaken. Pittsburgh ties up the series at 3 to 3 with a 2-1 win. I do not know who will win this series now. I thought Detroit would breeze by after taking a 2-o lead but Pittsburgh fought hard and tied up the series. So now all the pressure is on Detroit to win at home in game 7. This is for it all, who comes out?
Pittsburgh [thanks to Kid Crosby]

Notes: The first time since New Jersey beat Anaheim in 2002 in which the home team has won every game. Today was the 25th anniversary of one of the biggest days in Penguins’ history: the drafting of Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux in 1984.

Future Knick? maybe not

Well since Stephen Curry has declared for the draft, it was understood that he would probably become a Knick. Well there have been teams [Blazers, Bobcats] that have gained interest in Curry. His stock has risen and GMs think he can really bring something special to their team. The Bobcats are in dire need of a scorer so he would come in and contribute right away. In Portland he would come and play the point where he would not be in a pressure situation because he already has established players around him. If the Knicks cannot get him, they are looking at: Ty Lawson, [hometown] Jonny Flynn, & Toney Douglass.

Still Wanted

Jim Fassel who now coaches the Las Vegas/Los Angeles franchise in the United Football League, said he would have no problem signing quarterback Michael Vick. His story sounds the same as mine. Fassel believes what he done was wrong and should not be condone but he payed his debt to society. So he deserve his second chance in life with football whether it be in the NFL or the new UFL. Although Fassel can talk about Vick all he wants but the fact of the matter is, he is still under contract with the Falcons.

So when will the Falcons release him since they do not need him?  Who knows but maybe they are waiting until Commish Goddell makes his decision with Vick. IF he gets to play this year then some team may trade to get him. So basically the Falcons are trying to get something out of the Vick transaction. Although if they get no response, they will probably just release him.

Oh rumors have it that Graham Harrell will be trying out of the UFL.
