Being Court by the Grizzs

When it seemed as though the Grizzlies' interest in the free-agent guard was nothing more than strong flirtation, Iverson used his Twitter account Wednesday morning to suggest that both sides are now seriously considering marriage. In his latest entry, Iverson wrote: "Well I am about to begin another workout session. Agent informed me that Memphis made us an offer on yesterday. Stay tuned." A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the Griz proposed a one-year deal loaded with incentives but starting at a salary less than their original offer. Memphis first offered Iverson a one-year, $5million contract earlier this summer. Other Iverson suitors, the Charlotte Bobcats and Miami Heat, can offer the midlevel exception. It appears the former All-Star is deciding between Memphis and Charlotte. There is a strong possibility Iverson could land with the Bobcats, who can offer the midlevel exception without entering luxury tax territory. Charlotte would reunite Iverson with coach Larry Brown and present an opportunity for the 13-year veteran to start. Memphis still views Iverson as a reserve guard behind O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley.
