Earlier today [this morning rather] was the the longest college baseball game ever between Texas and Boston College. The game was 25 innings long. The score through 25, was knotted at 2 all. This broke the record of 23 that was set in 1971 between McNeese State and Louisana Lafayette. Texas did come out on top though after 171 plate appearances, 42 strikeouts, and 75 putouts. I can't imagine how tired their pitchers are.Texas senior reliever Austin Wood threw 169 pitches.Wood would throw 13 innings with 12 of them being hitless. He threw 169 pitches after throwing 30 the previous night against Army. Of the 169 pitches, 120 were strikes. Wow! What a game for both teams. Texas is one game away from the advancing to the super regional.

Better Luck Next Year
Everton 1 Chelsea 2
In the English FA Cup final, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard completed Chelsea's 2-1 comeback victory over Everton. It was one of the biggest achievements of the Russian coach career [Hiddink]. It was a big deal to him because they won it in the Mecca of world football. This was his last game as their manager. Congrats to Didier Drogba. Chelsea recovered after conceding the fastest goal in FA Cup final history, beating Everton 2-1 Saturday to win the trophy a fifth time. Louis Saha put Everton 1-0 ahead after just 25 seconds at Wembley, but Didier Drogba tied the score in the 21st minute and Frank Lampard struck the winner with 18 minutes left.

Yes I am BETTER than you [and you know it]
Welcome Back!
Note: Today was Carmelo's birthday. I am sure he is "thanking" Kobe for the present. Oh yeah almost forgot have to give credit to JR Smith. He had a great night and that's why I thought they would win. Billups only had 10 which was definitely not enough.

Unstoppable??
Your Fired!
"Regarding Anquan Boldin, let me say that I have great respect for him. I'm hopeful we can work this out and he can return to the Rosenhaus Sports family in the near future."
Let's see now if firing his agent will get him what he wants or will he have to just play fair and wait his turn. Many teams have showed interest in Boldin but they feel the price to get for him is a little steep because he is already close to his 30s [28 years old].
A New Dolphin?

Stat of the Night: Lakers went on a 21-3 run at the end of the 3rd quarter.
News not related, the NBA has took back the technical on Dwight Howard.

Rookie Update
Match Up Problems Get the Best of the Cavs
Lebron and the Cavs fall down 1-2 in the best of this 7 game series. Lebron yet again had a 41 point game but the rest of the role players did not step up to give him the assistance that he needed. It is a wonder that Lebron had 41, when he shot 11-28 from the field but he went to the line 24 times. That is what kept the Cavs from being blown out worse. Again, if the Cavs plan on winning they need to find some points off the bench. Tonight the bench only contributed 8 points. Lebron cannot and will not advance his team past this round if he does not get help and somebody else puts points on the board. At times it looks as if the other 4 players for the Cavs are doing the same thing I am doing at home, which is watching Lebron do it all.
The Magic did not get a lot of production from their stars [thus the reason why the game was a lot closer] but they showed up when it matter. Dwight Howard scored only 24 points but 14 big points from the free throw line. What helped the Magic was they were leading for most of the game unlike the past two, where they had to fight back by 20+. Hedo Turkoglu did not have a particularly great shooting night but like Howard he did his damage at the line [Hedo had 13 points, 10 boards, 7 assists].
Game 4 will be played in Orlando and we shall see how the Cavs respond to tonight's lost.
[Note: Cavs shot 37%, 15 turnovers, and had 3 players to foul out.]

Nuggets Lose it at Home
Game 3 [in which I thought the Nuggets would take] the Lakers came away feeling a little bit better about themselves after winning 103-97. Tonight was not a 1 or 2 point final score but the game still was not decided until the end. Not to be out done by his counter partner, Kobe scored 41 to lead all scorers. Pau Gasol continued to step up for the Lakers has he chipped in 20. Denver was leading by 8 until the Lakers Kobe sparked a comeback scoring 13 4th quarter points [you could blame JR Smith since he did draw a technical]. Bryant hit a 3 himself that was big because it put the Lakers up 96-95. What sealed the game was a repeat of Game 1. Trevor Ariza stole the ball for what looked like the Nuggets ran the exact same play & got the same result. Ariza would make the two FTs to put the Lakers up 99-95. If the Lakers could have made some more of their FTs the game could have been a little less stressful as they went 31 for 45 [68%]. It may have been from something in Denver because they all looked exhausted after the game [even Kobe missed some FTs]. I mean I understand this is the playoffs but they looked more tired than a high school team after first day of tryouts. The Lakers did catch a break as they held Melo to just 21 points [shooting 4-13]. Billups had a decent game but not enough points to lead his team to a victory [18 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists]. Game 4 will be in Denver again and will be big because anything but a win for Denver may wrap this series up. The key will be their front court picking up their shooting percentages [30.6%] and they keep people out of foul trouble.
I love the NBA Playoffs still! Especially after Lebron & Kobe keep going back and forth with their performances. I wonder what Lebron will have in store for his fans & the NBA tomorrow.

So Amazing|The Shot
Another slow weekend. I am still reeling after last night's game so let's watch the footage again.
A few quotes from other players on Lebron's shot
"He got a good look, no matter whatever Hedo does or whoever does, you can put your hand up, it’s not going to matter,” Bryant said. “If you get a good look at the basket, that ball’s going down.” -Kobe Bryant
"Great, great shot. It’s what the great ones do.” -Chauncey Billups
"He can still make a shot from almost anywhere.’ And he did. That’s the way he is. James is just a terrific player.” -Phil Jackson
"wow kings james...the only time ill ever say that" - Tyson Chandler
"wow wut a shoot" - Lamar Odom
"OMG the biggest shot of lebrons career...mvp mvp mvp mvp mvp" -Kevin Durant
We all are [Officially] Witnesses
So ready for Game 3.

Vikings Next Star
Redeem
Spaniard Version of Pistol Pete
Here is the video if you do not know why he is getting so much props and being herald as the next big PG in the NBA. To me he looks legit but you never know until he plays a game. He did beat Brandon Jennings [another top prospect] off the dribble multiple times when they played.
All Tied Up in the West
Carmelo and the Nuggets pull out the win [like I predicted]. Melo came out on fire still and scored 34 points, had 9 boards, and 4 assists. Along with him, Billups scored 27 points to led the Nuggets to a 106-103 win to tie the series at 1-1. Although I was wrong in the person who I thought would show up big [JR Smith], the Nuggets did have Linas Kleiza score 16 points and had 8 huge boards. The Nuggets fixed their FT problem but it looks like the Lakers have the problem now.
The guy [Ariza] who stole the show in Game 1, turned over the ball late in the game when they were only down by two. Even after the happened the Lakers had a chance to tie the game, but good defense allowed Fisher shoot to fall short. Tonight's play of Fisher is what hurt the Lakers as he went 1-9 and had only 3 points. Kobe Bryant had 32 but was not still enough. It looked like they had a Cleveland night as they were up by 13 only to see it be cut down and for them to lose.
The next two games will be at Denver where they have been good the past 16 games. Kobe did say they were the best road team so we shall see after last round they did not win a game on the road.

Lebron's 49 still not enough
What can you say? Lebron James played his heart out last night leading the Cavs with 49 points. Even with that they feel short as they lost Game 1 to the Magic 107-106. When your star player is doing everything he can to help you stay in the game, that should light a fire under you to play hard. Hopefully the rest of the team saw how Lebron was playing with cramps during the 4th quarter and was still diving on the floor. You cannot say enough about Lebron. I am sure those Kobe fans are saying something but MJ did not win the championship by himself. Role players stepped up for him and that will have to be the same way with Lebron. Although, Lebron should not have missed those FTs, but shooting 20-30 you can only ask for too much. Still say Cavs in 5.
Tonight we will see how the Nuggets respond in Game 2 after their heart-crushing lost in Game 1. I look for Carmelo to steal the show again but this time come away with the win. I do not think that they will come out any flatter than they did in game 1 but I see other players like JR Smith, stepping it up. The key in the lost was the missed FTs. Lets see if they take care of that probably.

J-E-T-S
Former Jets quarterback, Joe Namath said that Mark Sanchez should have a great career on the field and off the field. He believes that the Jets will go as far as Sanchez growth goes. Namath believes that since he was at USC and they won, that it will help his confidence since he is use to winning. Sanchez still has to beat out Kellen Clemens for the starting job though. Sanchez off the field career as already started as he was in the magazine GQ. He hasn't took a snap yet and is already the man in New York. I know Jets fans are hoping he can be like Namath and lead his team to a championship.

Blake Griffin maybe a Clipper
Well the winner of the Blake Griffin sweepstakes went to the LA Clippers. The Clippers, who went 19-63, need to make a smart move with this pick. You would think they would draft All-American Blake Griffin from Oklahoma. Their past draft picks say otherwise [which I will be happy about]. The last time they had a number one pick they drafted Michael Olowokandi [over Antwan Jamison, Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce]. I do not know what they think or saw in him but they were mistaken. Since then the only draft picks that look any good is Eric Gordon and Al Thornton [unlike: Darius Miles, Shaun Livingston,Yaroslav Korolev??? lol]. What they need to be getting is a small forward or TRUE shooting guard. That is why I hope they draft the guy from Spain lol. If they do draft Griffin, they will probably dump Zach Randolph or some other forward position because Blake would have to play now. The draft order for June 25th is:
- Los Angeles Clippers [SG|SF]
- Memphis Grizzlies [C]
- Oklahoma City Thunder [SG|C]
- Sacramento Kings [Best Available at all 5]
- Washington Wizards [C]
- Minnesota Timberwolves [PG|SG]
- Golden State Warriors [PF|C]
- New York Knicks [Best Available]
- Toronto Raptors [PG|C]
- Milwaukee Bucks [PG]
- New Jersey Nets [SG|PF]
- Charlotte Bobcats [SG|C]
- Indiana Pacers [PF]
- Phoenix Suns [SF]
Greatest Baller Alive...??
The King, Lebron James, has been dubbed as the best player in the league passing Kobe. That is being said by NBA Legend Jerry West. That is pretty BIG considering that West is the one that brought Kobe to LA. West believes that if you take Lebron away from the Cavs they are far from the team that they are now. West also goes as far as saying, he could be the best player to ever play. I do not know about that [that title belongs to MJ] but there is a slight chance. His reason is because Lebron plays on both ends of the court. He is also becoming a better shooter. West still believes that Kobe is a great player saying if it was the end of the game, he would let Kobe take that shot.
Reggie to be Married...
"So many people rush into it and it's all this pressure because they see we've been together for a while."But, we're heading there. When we're ready, we'll know. I mean I think that it's in our future. We've been together two years but we are taking our time and I think hopefully this one will last because of that. We're just totally dating and normal and happy and there's no rush."
I am happy for my boy Reggie, but I hope he has a breakout season because he is way overdue.
O Ye of lil' faith...now your in a jam
The Nuggets have reached the conference Finals the first time since '85. Which is understandable why he [the owner] would let the WWE Monday Night Raw get the Pepsi Center. The problem came when the Nuggets made the trade for Billups and became a championship contending team. Now they are hosting game 4 home but that is the same night Raw is suppose to be aired. WWE spokesperson said they have already sold 10,000 tickets for this event. The Pepsi Center is trying to reschedule the event as this has never happened before. This is what Vince McMahon had to say about this:
"Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year...[Nuggets owner] Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game."
"We can't reschedule the event. We can't get out there as often as we would like for a television event, because we're the second-largest traveling show in the world to Ringling Brothers. The amount of equipment we have is extraordinary."
"We would have never played the date if we known we could be preempted. We've been working around NBA dates for a long, long time, and had we know that this was going to be something unceremoniously thrown out on, we never would have taken the date on a tentative basis. We don't do that."

Former VTech DB released
Jimmy Williams, the cornerback out of VT 2 years ago, has been released by the 49ers. He was drafted by the Falcons in 2006 but was released by them when he did not make adequate progress. The Niners signed him to be the back up strong safety, but when he did not lose weight they signed a rookie instead. He was just signed by them in January after not playing last season. I was hoping he could start his career anew in San Fran but I guess not. Here is Coach Singletary's quote on his release:
“Right now, we just felt it was the best thing to do. It is a numbers game. We feel good about the guys that we have and wanted to give it a look and see how it would work out, and just felt like, ‘You know what, right now is the best time to make that decision.’”
Also out the the Niners camp, former UMiami quarterback, Kirby Freeman was also released by the Niners.
What a Surprised....[not]
The Magic won because they finally found their shooting stroke as they went 13-21 downtown. The Magic are hard to beat the days they are own fire from 3-point range. They shot an amazing 51% from the field as for most the series they have been struggling to find any kind of rhythm. Hedo Turkoglu led the attack for Orlando having 25 points and 12 assists. Dwight Howard had 12 points and 16 boards. On the other hand, the Celtics played pretty good considering they were playing short hand for majority of the series [Powe, KG]. Gotta give them guys props for not giving up and playing hard but they really missed KG. This may have been the last year for them to make a run because they are getting older and young teams are giving them a run. Now the Magic are put up against the rested Lebron & Cavs, who are looking forward to another Finals appearance. I say Cavs in 4 but probably 5. Unlike Charles Barkley who was tripping on the show saying the Magic will beat them. Crazy guy, Barkley he is.
On the west side, the Lakers showed dominance as they came out on fire and beat the Magic by 19. The game was never close from the beginning and I did not expect it too. Gasol led the Lakers by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. What also helped the Lakers was the fact that the Rockets shoot just 37% the whole game. I mean they started the game by missing their first 12 shots. Aaron Brooks could not get anything going as the Lakers actually decided to play defense tonight [13 points, 4 for 13]. The Lakers better not have a series like this against the Denver Nuggets because I promise Chauncey Billups will make them pay BIG. If Brooks scored easily I expect the same from Billups. I want to say the Lakers in 7 but I have a feeling it could be the Nuggets in 6. Just for the simple fact, you never know what Lakers team will show up. I mean it is like they are bipolar.
Both series should be good but I am just ready for the Finals right about now!

Rookie Impact
Looking for Juaquin Iglesias to do something good for the Bears. I am really hoping he does his thing and represent the OU well [I'm sure he will]. NFL.com analyst is predicting that he will have a rookie season similar to that of Eddie Royal's [91 rec for 990 yards]. I could see this happening because the common factor in Royal's rookie season was Jay Cutler, who is now at the Bears. So Cutler will need a consistent receiver to go to, so Iglesias maybe that guy. Right now he is starting out at slot, where he flourished at OU since Malcolm Kelly was at the X. The Bears could possible see a 10 or 11 win season if everything goes as plan for them because they have one of the easiest schedules.

Kobe Doin Work
Underdog
Gotta cheer for the underdog in some situations and this is one of them. If you do not know this guy, he was one of the best DII running backs a year ago. He got the best DII POY back to back seasons. He is taking reps at the starting position for the Jets because the other two backs in front of him have contract issues. I really hope that this young man gets his shot to play because playing for a school that's not a BCS, I know how overlooked we get. Who knows what can happen if he steps up during camp and show the coaches what they have. Some of his teammates are behind him as well. Tony Richardson had this too say about him:
Sometimes young guys get caught up in, 'You've got Thomas Jones, you've got Leon Washington, you just drafted Shonn Greene.' You have no control over that. What you have control over is the opportunities you have in the reps that you get. And I said this is a blessing in disguise because you never know how things work out. So if you continue to keep busting your butt and making plays like he's been doing, just let the chips fall where they may."
Notes:Woodhead was a beast at Division II Chadron State and won two straight Harlon Hill Trophies, which honors the best player in D-II. He ran for an NCAA-best 7,962 yards and is second all-time in all-purpose yards with 9,749.He also rushed for 2,756 yards during the 2006 campaign, which is an NCAA record

Not a Game 7
I mean, the Lakers could have and should have ended this in Game 4 & 5 after they heard that Yao was done [EPIC FAIL]. No what do they Lakers do, come out flat and get beat. So what if you won Game 5 by 40 points, you still have to win one more in that's where tonight came in. They thought the Rockets would lay down but once again they were mistaken and took another L. The Rockets opened the game up on a 17-1 run [thanks in huge part to Scola: 24 points 12 rebounds]. They won't get to Finals playing like that I can promise you that. The Nuggets have some veteran players [Billups] and they will take advantage on the road. I mean, I expected the Lakers to play a lot more consistent than what they are playing now. Going into Game 7, I don't know what to think. I want to expect to see Kobe, Gasol, & Odom to actually show up but who knows. They probably need guard play to pick up the most though because Aaron Brooks [26] just have been out playing Farmar and Fisher
The Magic also got a W tonight to tie the series [which was not a surprise]. Another thing that was a no brainer tonight is how Dwight Howard scored 23 points and had 22 boards. This game was not like the others because the Magic were actually down in the 3rd quarter. The only difference was that win it was 75-75 with 3:46 left, they did not choke [it helped that Ray went o-7 too]. I was a bit surprised because the Magic did not have a great night shooting the 3-ball but still won [shooting 23%]. Game 7 will be at Boston where they have been quite successful. I still expect this game to go to the wire, but it maybe like the Game 7 with the Bulls that was not close.

Greg Paulus is a Orange
Well I guess Greg will go back closer to home [NY] to play for the Syracuse Orange. He picks them over Michigan to play with Rich Rodriguez. Paulus played his college basketball at Duke. He has now graduated and is wanting to play football after the Green Bay Packers showed interest in him. To pursue that professional job, he will have to show that he can play football. He will have one year to play and that is if the NCAA grants him a waiver.
Battle 1 [Advantage-Crosby]
The Penguins will face the winner between the Bruins|'Canes, who is also in a Game 7.
