The Patriots also placed rookie wide receiver Brandon Tate, who is rehabbing a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered playing for the University of North Carolina on the non-football injury/illness list (NFI). Placement on NFI means that the player is not eligible to practice or play with the team until after the conclusion of the sixth regular-season weekend. So this season looks like a no go for Tate.
